Hello all! Welcome to our class blog!
To get things rolling, I'd love for us all to share a list of four favorite films. It could be top four favorites, your top four best of all time, top four in a genre you love (comedy, horror, rom-com, you decide!), or even top four directors or remakes. For at least one of the films or more), tell us something about it, or why you love it. I'll get us started. To add your list, click on the red 'comments' line above, and add your input! Ok, for me, four favorite comedies, in no particular order: Young Frankenstein (Mel Brooks) His Girl Friday (Howard Hawks) Office Space (Mike Judge) Animal House (John Landis) I've seen each of these at least a dozen times and they always make me laugh. I love old cheesy monster movies and Young Frankenstein makes them hysterically funny. It's classic Mel Brooks, and I picked it over Blazing Saddles only because I love that Gene Wilder wrote the script (though he stars in both). His Girl Friday has some of the fastest dialogue ever delivered, and features an incredibly strong woman in the form of Hildy Johnson, played by Rosalind Russell. Office Space will be funnier to you once you have been out in the workforce for a few years. The characters are all types that you will find around any workplace, and the lead comes to just not care about what happens at work, which is delightful. Animal House was the first National Lampoon movies, before the Vacation franchise. Lots of stupid, gross-out material and college pranks, with a cast led by the late great John Belushi lead to anarchy on campus. That's my comedy list. What can you share?
