4 Faves...

Hello all!  Welcome to our class blog!

To get things rolling, I'd love for us all to share a  list of four favorite films.  It could be top four favorites, your top four best of all time, top four in a genre you love (comedy, horror, rom-com, you decide!), or even top four directors or remakes.  For at least one of the films or more), tell us something about it, or why you love it.  I'll get us started.  To add your list, click on the red 'comments' line above, and add your input!

Ok, for me, four favorite comedies, in no particular order:
Young Frankenstein (Mel Brooks)
His Girl Friday (Howard Hawks)
Office Space (Mike Judge)
Animal House (John Landis)
I've seen each of these at least a dozen times and they always make me laugh.  I love old cheesy monster movies and Young Frankenstein makes them hysterically funny.  It's classic Mel Brooks, and I picked it over Blazing Saddles only because I love that Gene Wilder wrote the script (though he stars in both).  His Girl Friday has some of the fastest dialogue ever delivered, and features an incredibly strong woman in the form of Hildy Johnson, played by Rosalind Russell.  Office Space will be funnier to you once you have been out in the workforce for a few years.  The characters are all types that you will find around any workplace, and the lead comes to just not care about what happens at work, which is delightful.  Animal House was the first National Lampoon movies, before the Vacation franchise.  Lots of stupid, gross-out material and college pranks, with a cast led by the late great John Belushi lead to anarchy on campus.

That's my comedy list.  What can you share?

The Other Guys
Hall Pass
Woodlawn
42- 42 is one of my favorite movies ever because it tells the story of Jackie Robinson. I really enjoy sports movies and he is arguably the greatest athlete ever. The film gives you a really good idea of how life was back then. You also get a really good idea of what struggles Jackie Robinson had to go through and how he overcame them. He dealt with constant violence and abuse from everybody including from his own teammates but in the end he was able to prevail and changed Major League Baseball forever,

Good Boys

A Quiet Place

Shawshank Redemption

Up - Up was no doubt my favorite movie growing up and still is one of my favorites today. The movie was great as a kid as I watched it time after time. Watching it now there is so much more meaning behind the movie then I could have realized when I was younger. The movie for me has only gotten better over time with me understanding more and more behind the children's movie that can only be understood watching it over and over. I'm sure I will watch it plenty of more times in my lifetime and I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching it.

Step brothers
Casino
Scarface
Superbad
Step brothers has to be one of my favorite movies of all time because it has so many classic lines in it. I’ve also seen it probably 50 times and still laugh at the same things every time. Seeing Jhon C Riley and Will Ferrell act like 5 year olds is just too funny. But casino is another one of my favorite movies with joe pesci and Robert dinero, it’s a classic mafia movie about a casino thats ran by the mafia and they skim profits from the casino and take it for themselves.

Star wars
stepbrothers
The Dark Knight
Avengers:Endgame

The Dark Knight is probably my favorite movie of all time because of how it portrays the begining of the twisted relationship between Batman and the Joker. I also really like the mystery of who the Joker really is because he gives us 2 different backstories within the film and he has nothing in the police database. No name, date of birth or proof of existence. Even his cloths are custom made. At the end of the film the Joker explains that him and Batman are destined to do this forever which foreshadows their long lasting story that we all know and love.

- Raiders of the Lost Ark
- The Irishman
- The Dark Knight
- Shutter Island- I love this film so much because you can't just watch it once in order to understand the film and all its symbolism. It's one of those films that really makes your brain hurt trying to figure out what's going on, which are my favorite kind. Although the action in Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Dark Knight are great, mind twisting movies will always be my favorite.

Saving private Ryan
Step brothers
Shawshank redemption
The breakfast club has to be a favorite because of the classic stereotypes of an high school group of teenagers. I think we can all relate to an main character of the story. Although, I don’t feel as if the same sets of “groups” are still around as much today.

The Help
Guardians of the Galaxy
Little Women (2019)
The Truman Show- This has to be one of my favorite movies of all time because of the way it makes you question everything around you. You can't watch this movie without walking around wondering "Am I being watched?" or "Is everything around me fake?". I love movies that play with your head like that and make you think about things you usually don't think about. The life of Truman is completely staged and every single person except for him is in on it. Not only does it play with your mind, but the suspense throughout the whole movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. Interestingly enough, you find yourself on the same team with the audience within the movie as you root for Truman to discover that his life is a TV show. It's a storyline that will never get boring to me!

The Irishman
A Bronx tale
Sandlot
Superbad
- A Bronx tale is one of my favorite movies ever because it is a great classic movie. It relates to mobs in New York City and this young boy looking up to the leader. He learns a lot and Joe Pesci is also in this movie. He is also in the Irishman which is also a great movie, but a Bronx tale is always one of my favorites.

The Karate Kid (1984)
Step Brothers
21
Rocky IV- This Rocky movie is by far my favorite out of the series. It is the most action packed in my opinion and offers a lot of drama considering that it was made during the Cold War. The infamous USSR vs. the U.S. conflict is extremely interesting in this movie. This is a classic movie and I still get the chills watching the ending.

Sandlot

Bench warmers

Fast and furious

Fast and furious is my favorite movie series because I like seeing all the nice cars and all the dramatic and crazy scenes during the movie. I like watching the cars drift around sharp turns. I like watching the movie series because you can see the characters develop and grow. You get connected with the story line.
